Goo Goo Dolls-Something for the Rest of Us

As the years pass, the Goo Goo Dolls never cease to amaze me. And as promised, their "Something for the Rest of Us" album hasn't let me down. Reminiscent almost of their album "Gutterflower", they still have what it takes to rock our world.

Their songs have stayed solid and true to the heart-compelling form that we all know and love. It's still just as easy for us to get lost in their music, still just as easy for them to sweep us away with the soft flow of guitars and jarring drums that make up their music. Their recently released song "Home" off of their new album begs for you to just do what John Rzeznik says and crawl back into his bed.

"Sweetest Lie" tells about a relationship completely based on lies, but is only found out when it's over. Sadly, we've all had that experience and John and the rest of the Goo's are there to provide an accommodating outlet to voice that hurt. Just as I hoped, the album provides raw energy, power, and emotion.

A long awaited album for Goo fans everywhere, they have kept us waiting way too long. Their last album was released in 2006, named "Let Love In." They did release a greatest hits album, which was almost a given for the band, but that wasn't enough for me. I, along with the rest of the Goo fan-base, had to wait 4 years. This new album has a fresh beat to it, like the sound has only gotten better with the time they have spent away from the eagerly waiting music world.

Like a fine wine, the Goo gang has naturally progressed into a better sound that has matured, but still has that taste of new Goo that hits us just as hard as that first song we ever heard when we fell into that Doll love. This album is proof that time is powerful and that good bands like the Goo Goo Dolls can only get better. You know what they say, once a Goo, always a Goo.

I give it a 9 out of 10!
