Gilford, NH- August 6th

I forgot my camera so I don't have any pictures or videos besides what I took with my phone. What was suppose to be a 1.5 hour drive from Maine to Gilford ended up taking over 3 hours with lots of traffic and the GPS taking us on random residential roads. We finally got there around 6:30 and wandered around the venue while The Spill Canvas was playing. I wasn't really impressed with them. This show had Vertical Horizon playing instead of Switchfoot. I was really impressed by Vertical Horizon. I only have one of their albums from 2000 and wasn't familiar with their new material. Their most recent album sounds awesome and I also really enjoyed hearing their hits. VH got cut off during Everything You Want. Mid song all the lights came on and they left the stage. During the intermission, VH signed autographs at the merchandise booth. The line was wicked long and we didn't bother waiting. We nearly ran into the lead singer of VH on his way to the merchandise booth. The GGDs came on and played very efficiently. It seemed like four or five very long songs because they didn't even stop for a second when one song ended before starting the next. The setlist began with The Sweetest Lie and ended with Broadway and VH playing Everything You somewhere in the middle. I'm not sure what song was cut when VH came back on. John commented that he was going to write a happy ending for Acoustic #3. I really liked hearing Not Broken live. All Eyes on Me was another one of my favorites of the night.

Great review. Traffic really sucks sometimes. I missed the first third of the Elton John/Billy Joel concert in 1994 because of traffic I'm glad it all worked out for you though and you made it in time. Very strange about the VH song getting cut off. Did you ever find out why? For a cell phone that's a great pic. You look like you ended up in a pretty good spot. I'm assuming you're fairly tall. I'm envious of the view you have. See that short girl in front of you ... I'm much shorter than that

Vertical Horizon is AWESOME! I would love to see them live! Sort of strange that they were their opening band because they used to be pretty popular in the early 2000s.

I think their set ran too long. Matt Scannell commented that they had too many songs to play and not enough time. The GGD were nice enough to let them come back on. I'm actually not that tall only 5'3. There were a lot of empty seats in front of us which gave a clear view of the stage the entire show. I was in the center 12th row. I bought tickets from someone on AG, I originally wasn't going to go. I'm glad I did go especially to see VH live.
