Yeah, John confirmed the 31st on his twitter. Who knows if that's actually going to be the final release date though. Actually this is the part that caught my eye: For the new recording, John Rzeznik, Robby Takac and Mike Malinin teamed with producers Tim Palmer (David Bowie, Pearl Jam, U2), Butch Vig (Nirvana, Green Day, Foo Fighters) and John Fields (Paul Westerberg, Jimmy Eat World). Additional production was handled by the band's members. Since when is Butch Vig in on this!? Maybe I just missed a news article on that somewhere, but that excites me a little.

Butch Vig was brought in for one song at the end. I think it's the infamous Hey Ya but don't hold me to that. Rob Cavallo was also brought in as a producer, which this article does not mention. Also, the article has been updated to say the release date is 8/31. Also also, thumbs down to Jeff Miers for claiming the summer tour started in CA last week. A simple visit to the website would have told him they're on the tail end of the spring tour and that the summer tour starts, in, you know, summer. Not difficult, buddy.
