I was just looking through some charts because I was bored on billboard.com, and I found these for the end of the decade charts:
Top Adult Pop Songs of the Decade
#31 - Goo Goo Dolls - Give A Little Bit
Top Adult Pop Artists of the Decade
#10 - Goo Goo Dolls
I think those are both pretty good! I found it surprising that GALB charted and Here Is Gone didn't. Or even Before It's too Late or SWY

Give a little bit was already a popular song and people are more likely to take in what is already familiar. I bet if the goo's did "pretty women", it would be a fairly big hit.
