Syracuse, New York (WSYR-TV) - The State Fair has announced another band that will perform at the grandstand this year. The Goo Goo Dolls will be at the fair Friday, August 22nd at 7:30 p.m. Tickets go on sale Saturday April 19th at 10 a.m. for $39.50 and $29.50. Source And... Goo Goo Dolls to Play at the New York State Fair August 22 The Goo Goo Dolls - a Buffalo-born band that made the big time, but never forgot its upstate roots - will play at the New York State Fair Aug. 22. Tickets to see the 7:30 p.m. concert at the Fair’s Mohegan Sun Grandstand will cost $39.50 and $29.50. They will go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19 at the State Fair’s FYE box office, at all Ticketmaster outlets and online at LiveNation.com or Ticketmaster.com. “The fair is about showcasing all the great things that New York State has to offer,” Fair Director Dan O’Hara said. “The Goo Goo Dolls are homegrown performers who have entertained millions of people around the world. We’re excited to have them in our concert lineup.” The Goo Goo Dolls formed more than 20 years ago in western New York. The trio has since put out nearly a dozen albums, hit the pop and adult rock charts, provided the soundtracks for several movies and been nominated for a handful of Grammy awards. Among the band’s familiar songs is “Iris”, the theme song written for the 1998 movie “City of Angels” starring Nicholas Cage and Meg Ryan. Other chart-hitting songs include “Slide”, “Here is Gone”, “Sympathy”, and “Give a Little Bit”. In 2004, the band played a free concert for 60,000 fans in Buffalo's Rich Stadium during an unexpected rain storm. That concert became a CD and DVD – “The Goo Goo Dolls Live in Buffalo”. The New York State Fair Box Office will be open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 11. Initial sales at the box office will be CASH ONLY, due to expected demand. Credit cards will be accepted at the box office only after the lines are gone. The Fair box office will open again Monday, April 14 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For the month of April, the Fair box office will be open to sell concert tickets on MONDAYS ONLY. Tickets to the Aug. 29 Jonas Brothers concert, the Aug. 23 Journey, Heart and Cheap Trick concert, and the Aug. 25 Brooks & Dunn with ZZ Top concert are still available at the box office or through Ticketmaster. More New York State Fair concerts will be announced as their ticket information is confirmed. The 2008 Fair will run from Aug. 21 to Sept. 1. Admission to the fair is free with the purchase of any concert ticket bought before the day of the show. All grandstand entertainment at the Great New York State Fair this summer is being booked by Live Nation, one of the largest and most diverse live entertainment companies in the world. In addition to buying grandstand tickets online through LiveNation.com or Ticketmaster.com, fans can order and pay by phone by calling (315) 472-0700, (585) 232-1900, or (607) 722-7272. Special Needs Tickets will go on sale Monday at 9 a.m. These ticket sales are limited to two tickets per person and are available through the fair box office only, not any other ticket outlet. They may be ordered by phone at 487-7711. Source

This sounds like a waaaaay better show than the Salamanca show the day after, and it's half the price. I sure do wish I knew where I will be in four months and that gas wasn't going to be $5 a gallon...

I love the idea of meeting up. But I must be getting old because the idea of a GA show does not appeal at all. Also, if you're an IM member the presale for this show is today at 3pm.

You're right. Unless it's GA within the individual sections. I wouldn't be surprised since it's a State fair. But what do I know....lol Is anyone doing the presale? Let us know if it's seats or GA if you do.
