The Next Great American Band (not rated) Premieres: 7 p.m. Oct. 19, KDFW/Channel 4 Who's in it: John Rzeznik, Sheila E., Ian "Dicko" Dickson (judges), Dominic Bowden (host) What it is: It's American Idol, but with multiple musicians playing instruments What's good about it: One more time -- it features musicians playing instruments. And it will teach those of us who aren't passionate Goo Goo Dolls' fans how to pronounce Goo Goo frontman Rzeznik's last name. What's not so good: This was unavailable for preview at press time, but experience tells us that the audition episodes will emphasize humiliation and nastiness. And if you think it's tough to listen to people who can't sing, wait till you see the ones who can't sing or play. Prediction: The only thing working against this is its time slot, but given that it's produced by the same people who do Idol and the success of summer series such as America's Got Talent and So You Think You Can Dance, this looks like it'll be fall's biggest new show. http://www.star-telegram.com/television/story/228051.html

"What's good about it: ...it will teach those of us who aren't passionate Goo Goo Dolls' fans how to pronounce Goo Goo frontman Rzeznik's last name." I dunno...if they haven't got that pronunciation down by now, they never will. Kinda like when "W" says "nukular" instead of "nuclear".
