Ticket Prices

So I was looking at the ticketmaster site tonight, checking to see how much money I'm going to have to save up (my show doesn't go on sale until 6/3....woohoo!), and the one date they have listed as just the Counting Crows (6/29) has a rather high ticket price listed.

http://www.ticketmaster.com/artist/735190

$65.00!!!

Are they seriousHuh  I've never paid more than $30 for a ticket to a Goo show (the tour w/Bon Jovi doesn't count).  Didn't the guys say a tour or two ago that they like to have sponsors to help keep the ticket prices down?  What happened to that?

That's what happens with a co-headling tour.  Everyone was so upset because it was co-headlining, I was mad because it means the cost is doubled.  I'm sorry, but the Goos that swore they'd never charge ridiculous prices for tickets are dead.

Oh, plus to even be able to buy those $65 tickets, you're now expected to shell out $30 for the presale option.

I have to admit I was a little bit shocked by the price too. Shocked  I guess I'll only be seeing them once while they're with the CC.

the $30 for the fan club might be a good deal if you want to access their message boards and get to the meet and greets...but, forget about presale tickets.  in my experience, presales for the most part suck and you're lucky if you get good seats.  they only release a certain number of seats and (if seated) they're shuffled throughout the venue, you don't always get offered the best seats.  if you want good tickets, and you're thinking about paying the $30 just because of that...my suggestion to you would be to find a reputable ticket agent in your area and secure good seats for about $15 extra a seat.

good luck

I'm sorry to say this, but I feel the that Goo's are not about the fans, or not anymore.

I mean, first off, sure, they can make any kind of music they want, but the whole point besides making money is to cater to fans. Obviously it's not about the money, but they're not catering to the fans either with their new music. It's a "I'll do whatever I want" and "I'll take as long as I want" album.

Now they are touring with CC and charging higher. They just seem like whatever to me. I doubt they care about profits, but they like "ok, whatever".

I think this is simply a similar situation to what happened when U2 gave control of their fan club to an outside company.... in case you didn't hear, their most recent tour was fraught with fan club presale problems, with many fans who were expecting access to 'the best seats' being shut out completely... it was a complete miracle for me to get presale tickets to see them at Madison Square Garden back in May... U2 finally realized the error of their ways and apologized to the fans, while taking a much larger role in their fan club operation.  The adjustments to the meet and greet policy seems like a good sign, but hopefully the fellas will listen to the fans and not simply use the fan club as a money making gimmick they pay no attention to.

I agree to a certain extent.  I think they have a right to make the music they want to make and we have the right to not like it, but I don't think they owe us an apology or anything.

However, the start of this tour and album have left me with a really bad taste in my mouth about the band.  For a long time, the Goos could do no wrong in my eyes.  I was willing to still support the band even though I don't like the new album, but they're making it very hard to be a real fan.  You're expected to pay to join a club to be a fan. You're expected to buy the most expensive tickets they have ever sold so that the tour can support another band that you have no interest in.

(And I have my own personal madness of the Goos making no real attempt to get tickets into the hands of "real fans" for the promo tour (Buffalo show) they said was for the fans.  Not a single person from ANY Goo messageboad won tickets through the radio stations, except one person who was then told she was too young to go)

There's something seriously wrong with the way this is all going.  I was around when DUTG and GF got released and I never felt like true fans were being taken for granted during those time periods.

You couldn't be more right. I really have a bad taste about how everything is going down. I don't particularly like LLI. I think it's their weakest effort. In fact, I think it ranks below DUTG, GF, and SSC. I find myself automatically skipping thru tracks and I've never done that on Goo albums.

This whole show in Buffalo really bothers me to. I'm one of the diehards who was out there waiting for hours and front row for the Uncle Sam's Jam and yet I can't go to this show "for the fans" on Saturday night? I love listening to Janet Snyder or one of the awful local DJ's go to the lucky caller "Are you a Goos fan?" Caller responds after screaming "Ohhh yeah, the biggest." Riiiiight. Why haven't any members on the msg boards I read won these contests for tickets? So frustrating.

I'm going to the album signing tomorrow. I almost feel like telling the guys how frustrated I am about this "free show for the fans."

OHHH, and another thing that bothers me, interviews in which the guys talk about LLI and put GF down like it was a bad album or something. Give me a break. LLI doesn't hold up to GF at all.
