Crazy things that happened on Robby's Birthday

Ok, so ever since I became a goo fan, crazy things have always happened to me on Robby's birthday (I have no idea... just seems to be a strange pattern..) Well.. this year was by far the craziest. The day was pretty much normal until the late evening... I had done school (online.. hehe) and gone to work, got off work at like 10:30 and headed over to my friend Craig's house (where I generally chill about every day... along with most of our friends) So as I pull up to Craig's, I see this car on a trailer, a green Honda Civic, that looked like one of those ads you see on the side of the road with the sign "Please don't drink and Drive" because this car totally resembled one of those cars.... except it was just sitting in front of Craig's apartment. Odd. So I walk up to Craig and I'm like "what the F*** is that?" lol. so as it turns out our friend Brandon's brother had gotten drunk and wrapped the car around a palm tree. which was humerous considering my initial thoughts on the car. (No worries... he was not injured in the accident). But the car was totalled, mostly because the frame was all bent up. So, the next day Craig and Brandon were gonna go down to the shop to cut the engine out of the car, and then take it over to Charleston Steal (Junkyard) to see how much they could get for it. Well, considering the car was gonna be junked anyways, we decided to just have a blast with this car, right? So, a few of us piled into Craig's truck, and we all headed down to the shop and grabbed up some spray paint. (at like midnight). Then, a bunch of intoxicated teens and ppl in their 20's sat there at like 1 am, spray painting the hell out of this car, while snacking on sushi our chef friend had whipped up. On the trunk of the car it said "HAPPY BDAY ROBBY TAKAC!!" hehe well, so then, we thought it'd be cool to have pictures of this insanely spraypainted car, so we went to the store, grabbed a camara (at like 3 am) and took a ton of pics of the car. as soon as i get my check im gonna go get them developed and ill post up a link or something. well, so about 4 am the last of us went to bed, and only a few hours later we woke up, and began smashing the hell out of the car. we had baseball bats and axes and were just pounding that thing. it only had the windshield and one window left when we were done. well, we still had to get down to charleston steal, so we put trailer on the back of the truck and headed downtown. That sure was a site. This car looked like something straight out of who knows where. But we got down to the shop, got the trailer backed in and everything, and started trying to figure out how we were going to get that engine out in 2 hours. after about 10 minutes of trying to figure it out, we realized we were wasting time and craig just started trying to cut around the engine (he is a welder). well, smoke is coming out from around the location of the cuts, but nothing seems to be a big deal immediately. we caught the body on fire a few times, but nothing big. well, about 20 minutes into cutting im looking at the trunk, and smoke was coming out of the trunk where we had put a hole in it with the ax. so i look, and all the other holes have smoke coming out. i pointed it out to brandon, but he said it was normal. then the smoke got thicker and darker, and i was like, "you guys.... i think the car is on fire...." they stop, look, and as soon as they realized i was right we were all running for fire extinguisers. smoke was like bellowing out of that car. apparently we had set something under the dashboard on fire. with a half a tank of gas still in that thing, we knew this was VERY BAD. fortunately the holes we'd hit in the car with the ax gave us somewhere to stick the fireextinguiser into to try to get up in the body to put out the fire. we finally put the fire out, and decided we give up on cutting out the engine. too dangerous without enough planning. so, we began just loading the car up with a ton of steal scraps to try to add weight to the car to make it worth more. - this was just slightly humorous. we're sitting their with big steel trash cans of steal scraps, trying to unload them into the car as fast as possible, whether it be by putting them in a bucket and dumping them, just throwing them through the back window of the car, in the trunk whatever, or shoveling them in. so we got the car like totally loaded down to the point where tires had popped. we went to head down to charleston steal, which was 2 doors down, and found that the gates had just closed and the guy was locking up. so now we have this heavy as f*** car on a trailer that has to be returned, and we realize there's no way we can pull this car with all the steal back over the cooper river bridge into mt. pleasant to craigs again. so we have to leave the car somewhere. this also means we have to get this car off the trailer. so we go back to the shop, and im sitting in the truck while they try to figure out what to do. the next thing i know brandon is in the car (that has been wrecked, painted, beaten, started on fire, and filled with steal) reving up the engine. I was like "oh my god, he is not going to try and drive that off the back of the trailer, is he?" Yeah. he was. the car F***in FLEW off the back of the trailer. it was GREAT. he got it up to a high enough RPM so that the wheels were just spinning in all the fire extenguiser dust, and when the wheels finally caught on the trailer the car just flew off the back of the trailer... amazingly landing on all four wheels. there was that crazy sound of steel hitting steel as the car slammed down onto the ground. brandon said it hurt his butt. then we headed back to mt. p, i hauled a$$ home to hop through the shower real quick before i had to be back at work. insanity. i swear, its all because it was robby's birthday....... his spirit just makes the day f***in ROCK!!!!!!

"Soon we realized that after doing this together for so long, we developed some talents that as a group tend to come naturally. We realized that we had a rapport among us and in that rapport was power. "And we realized that our day jobs (as the Goo Goo Dolls) didn't suck as bad as we had thought," he said, laughing (Robby).
