I keep reading these minor freak outs about how Better Days is a Christmas song. Yeah, technically it probably is. But what I noticed was that it isn't a traditional Christmas song, it talks about and expresses things that can apply to situations throughout the year. It isn't stuck being an annual song -- it'll hopefully get airplay all year long. Basically... It doesn't HAVE to be a Christmas song. It's so good it doesn't need to be pigeon holed like that.

ughhhh!Ok,I'm sorry I know I freaked out on pogo, and I'm sorry. But it doesn't sound like a your everday traditional Christmas song because JOHNNY IS MUCH MORE TALENTED THAN WRITING ABOUT A HAPPY NEW YEAR AND WE WISH YOU A MERRY CHRISTMAS! I'm sure it will get airplay all year!Because really and truly it's also applying to recent global events. But before Hurricane Katrina and Rita, yadda yadda yadda, they said specifically in that video(The one of them before or after the Brew Ha concert)that they were releasing a Christmas song for a Target Christmas album! And it can be proven that Better Days is indeed that song! And I highly doubt that it's for the Tsunami,if it is,it's a bit late.Don't you guys think so?If they had written a song for the Tsunami don't you think we would have long ago heard it? I don't see why some of you can't get through your heads that it is a Christmas song. It's simple enough, just listen to the words,he even mentions Jesus just not by name. And in a more cryptic way. Ok,here I go being rude again!I'm sorry! I mean no harm,I've been in a crappy mood lately.

| You are funny when you're in a crappy mood! I have always said that it's ok to have strong opinions, just don't be opnionated! Work through it sister...breathe... HA! Better Days can be a song for any day and can flip flop from Christmas to Katrina/Tsunami help to just a good song for as long as it's played. Sting had "Gabriel's Message" for a Christmas song and I played it year round, as is the awesome "Song for a Winter's Night" by Sarah McLaughlin & Jewel. How 'bout Bruce Springsteen's "Santa Claus is coming to town"! In addition, if I'm down and one of Adam Sandler's hysterical Chanukah songs comes on I HAVE to smile - too funny to just listen to once a year. Good music is just good music (OK - Adam Sandler is a stretch but they are funny) and when it carries a nice warm fuzzy message...it's all good!

I personally think this song is intended to be a Christmas song, but I agree that it can be related to many things in everyday life and current events around the world. My question is....do we really have to argue about this? We have new GOO!! We should be celebrating, not debating over what the song was written about!!!

Hi! I haven't posted here in FOREVER but I was reading all about the Better Days/Christmas debate and had to put in my two cents LoL. There is a Joni Mitchell song called River, it's on the Blue album and is - I think - kind of the same type of song as the new Goo. It's all about Christmas, but it's a year round song that's really about losing love. And, if I recall correctly, a few years ago there was an article in a guitar magazine and I'm pretty sure Johnny R. said that was one of his favorite songs. Maybe that's where some of the inspiration came from? At anyrate, I think Better Days is a pretty darn cool song and regardless of what it was written for, extremely appropriate for what's been going on in the world lately. Yay new album! ok that was all I had to say Oh and anybody who hasn't heard that Joni Mitchell song, check it out it's pretty cool IMHO.
