I was over at the Its all goo message board and Robin had this message...... From the Ventura County Star.... Goo Goo Dolls, Josh Groban, Dwight Yoakam, Common, Solomon Burke and Kristin Chenoweth will be honored at the American Society of Young Musicians' Spring Benefit, June 9, at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. Call 1-310-358-8301. It looks like the Goo's will be receiving the "2005 MOST AWESOME BAND" award! Yeah...they got that right! http://www.ASYMusicians.org How cool is that?! Way to go John, Robby and Mike! Robin 'Hey guys remember when we were all talking about wanting goos too be honoured in the Rock and Roll hall of fame, well this is a step closer Is anyone going or can anyone go? I didnt know about this happening, they deserve it.

Here's the official press release... 13th ANNUAL AMERICAN SOCIETY OF YOUNG MUSICIANS’HOUSE OF BLUES SPRING BENEFIT CONCERT & AWARDS SHOW THURSDAY, JUNE 9, 2005 PRESENTS MUSIC AWARDS TO THE GOO GOO DOLLS, JOSH GROBAN, DWIGHT YOAKAM, COMMON, BRIAN CULBERTSON, SOLOMON BURKE & KRISTIN CHENOWETH West Hollywood, CA – The American Society of Young Musicians (ASYM) will present the organization’s 13th Annual House of Blues Spring Benefit Concert and Awards Show, honoring musical legends,The Goo Goo Dolls, Josh Groban, Dwight Yoakam, Common, Brian Culbertson, Solomon Burke and Kristin Chenoweth. The kudofest will include performances by Ironworks Music recording artist, Rocco DeLuca; recording artist, Deborah Falconer; and Indie band, Mavin, (heard on the current “Herbie: Fully Loaded” movie soundtrack), as well as other surprise guest artists!!! The event will be held at the House of Blues, 8430 Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood, starting at 6:00 p.m. with a Celebrity Reception, Silent Auction and Cajun Buffet, followed by the Concert and Awards Presentation at 7:30 p.m. Individual tickets at $250 per person, or corporate tables of 10 at $2,500 per table, include: Seating with Honorees and/or Performers, Celebrity Reception, Silent Auction, Buffet Dinner, Concert and Awards Show and Gift Bags. Individual tickets at $150 per person, or corporate tables of 10 at $1,500 per table, include: Buffet Dinner, Concert and Awards Show and Gift Bags. Due to limited seating, early reservations are highly recommended. Attire for the event is funky/casual to dressy. Valet Parking is available. To secure reservations and obtain further information about this event, please call the ASYM office at 310.358.8301, or visit the website www.ASYMusicians.org ASYM president Jarvee Hutcherson stated: “Our 2005 Awards will be presented to artists in the music industry who serve as an inspiration for aspiring young musicians.” The 2005 ASYM Awards recipients are as follows: double platinum recording artists, The Goo Goo Dolls (Johnny Rzeznik, Robby Takac and Mike Malinin – “Most Awesome Band Award”); singing phenomenon, Josh Groban (“Favorite Male Vocalist Award”); Grammy Award-winner, Dwight Yoakam (“Favorite Traditional Country Artist Award”); rap artist and poet, Common (Most Lyrically Gifted Hip-Hop Artist Award”); jazz sensation, Brian Culbertson (“All That Jazz Award”); Grammy Award-winner, Solomon Burke, (“Trailblazer Award”), who will also be inducted into the 2005 ASYM’s Hall of Fame and Tony Award-winner and television actress, Kristin Chenoweth (“Favorite Inspirational Artist Award”). Hutcherson continued: “With this year’s roster filled with top name talent in the music industry today, this evening promises to be as spontaneous and exciting as previous years, where such raucous musical pairings as Chaka Khan and Meredith Brooks, got funky with bluesman B.B. King and guitarist Dave Navarro, bringing the house down!” In its 13th year at the House of Blues, these ASYM concerts have become an annual staple of spring on the Sunset Strip, where groupies and rockers have converged at past shows for an evening of star-studded arrivals and jam-packed music. Hutcherson added: “You can never tell what might happen in the spur of the moment. In the past, impromptu jam sessions have occurred with the likes of Little Richard, Keith Richards, Rachel Hunter, Ronald Isley, Linda Hopkins, and Al Jarreau, among others, joining in musical renditions of some of Rock music’s classic numbers.” Former ASYM Award Recipients have included: John Mellencamp, Quincy Jones, The Foo Fighters, Diane Warren, Herbie Hancock, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Papa Roach, among others. The American Society of Young Musicians (ASYM) is a non-profit, 501 (c) 3, national organization comprised of individuals in the music and entertainment industry, as well as various advocates of the industry, including business leaders, physicians, arts patrons, scholars and others, who together, share a common commitment to the enrichment and advancement, both educationally and musically of America’s young musicians. Monies raised from the 13th Annual American Society of Young Musicians’ House of Blues Spring Benefit Concert & Awards Show will benefit the organization’s various ongoing initiatives and programs throughout the year, including a lecture series, artists workshops and forums, a shared housing referral program and a financial assistance program. ASYM award recipients are voted upon by ASYM’s national membership of 1,200 young musicians, ranging in age from 14 to mid-30’s. Members are asked to vote for artists, in a variety of musical genres, who have inspired them the most in their formative musical careers. The purpose of ASYM is to mentor and provide inspirational leadership to young musicians; to award scholarship monies via ASYM’s Development and Support Scholarship Fund; to honor outstanding young musicians; to pay homage to extraordinary musicians who have set ablaze the trails in which these young musicians must travel; to recognize some of the recording industry’s most talented leaders; to raise a greater consciousness and advocacy for the enrichment and support of America’s young aspiring musicians and to bring together a diverse mix of musicians and music lovers.
