At one of the last live chats with the goos sombody asked them "If you could ask your fans one question, what would it be? And their reply was "What about us makes you connect with us?" So what makes you connect?

That has to be one of the most well thought out question ever. Strange thing is, I don't think I can really pinpoint exactly WHY I connect with the Goo Goo Dolls. Maybe it's because of John's beautiful songwriting that effortlessly combines real-life experiences, storytelling and emotions? Maybe it's because Robby has that wicked smile and an aura of happiness that is infectious? Maybe it's because Mike has that quiet demeanour that instills a sense of mystery? Or maybe it's just because they rock!

What a good question... Its funny because I often try to explain this to people, and... I can't. I dont think I can even explain it to other fans. Part of it is the immediate and inevitable connection, but a lot of it is how that connection has grown over time and how it has affected my life. I think I am going to write about an essay about it soon, as an attempt to articulate it. If anyone is interested, I will post it when I'm done. But in general, I think its entirely too difficult to explain.

i think it's because almost all of johnny's songs especially acoustic #3 make me feel like i'm not the only one who has gone through what he's describing and i can just relate to alot of their music.i dunno something like that.

What makes me connect? Its like before I heard them I never knew I was looking for them, if you know what I mean. I know that no matter what happens, my Goo cds will never ever let me down, whereas its virtually impossible to say that about anything else in my life.

I think for me the connection is their live performances! I mean you listen to a CD and you can say you like a song, but at least for me when I hear it live it just makes me love it even more. It's great seeing that the guys are having just as much fun as the crowd is. They put so much passion and their all into their live music which makes them such an incredible live band!

hmm... that's a tough one. what Becky said. also... there's a certain freedom in their music... an energy... not like running and jumping energy, but a pure, emotional type energy. they're so easy to connect with cause they're so raw.

For me it's 1.) Their music is rock SOLID (or maybe I should say solid ROCK as well!) ~ they create such quality songs that are diverse...unlike some bands whose songs all sound the same. They just make DAMN GOOD music that evokes a lot of emotion (happiness for me!) in the listener. 2.) They are one of the best live acts around...takes some incredibly talented people to sound just as good, if not better, live than in the studio. 3.) You couldn't have three more different people in a band... and I love the result of their combined personalities and charisma. 4.) They're all three funny and smart and seem to be very accessible to their fans. 5.) They've stayed true to themselves...never compromised their art for the sake of the almighty dollar. 6.) They give BACK to their community. 7.) They're just cute.
