Well they used a backing track. John was singing over the lyrics "whatcha need". It messed them all up. I guess they never played with a backing track before. They looked nervous. I am really disapointed. I never thought the guys would do that. bummer

It wasn't a backing track. I doubt they'd get the lyrics wrong on a backing track. PMSL

Robby and the keyboard guy were singing the backup vocals. You see Robby singing during the song and they should the keyboardist towards the end in the backgroung singing too. They guys always play everything live so if there was any additional tracks, which i highly doubt, then it was by request of the NBA, arena, or TNT for the live video feed. It sounded like Kelly Clarkson may have had a backing track too, but the band is obviously there and playing, just like the goos. I mean, they are playing their instruments. Why doesn't anyone question it with artists like Destiny's Child? They obviously have no live music in the background, ie lack of a band, and the backup vocals are so blatently lip-synced. I think just their main lead sings one at a time. So I really doubt you are right, beaucoup.

The only lipsyncing the Goo's do is when they are shooting a video! They were live 110% last night! So was Kelly Clarkson, I do believe there was backing track with her but she sang live and her band played live. I agree with Anon, Destiny's Child lipsync's all the time and no one ever says anything about it. Look at Ashlee Simpson she lipsynced on SNL due to her acid reflux a huge deal is made about it and the next night Destiny's Child opened the RMA and they lipsynced and not one word was said. The Goo's were live man!

Robby sang but it was John's voice singing "whatcha need" as John was singing over it. John sang live over the backing track and they messed up and John started to laugh. How could John's voice sing 2 different lyrics at the exact same time? I agree about Destiny's Child lip syncing and it's wrong. I only questioned the Goos because this is a GGD forum. They never used a backing track before and if you watch the performance and listen... it's obvious. Sorry I had to say something.

lol, like everyone else, i thought robby was singing the "watcha need" part, did you watch it on TV? or a download, becuase it is possible that the conversion can make the sound and visual delay a little bit..

If they did indeed use a backing track it was probably because sound in a gym fuckin sucks, so the more sound the better. I've been to concerts in gyms and thank goodness i was in the 2nd row or close each time because people in the back didn't 'hear' the show too good.
