This is my worst nightmare, lol... Ok, a friend of mine who knows how much I like the GGD has finally given in to my endless waffling and asked to hear one of their songs...but...ONE of their songs? How on earth can I narrow it down that far?! So first thought was, come on here and get advice from you guys What one song should I play to this guy to get him hooked? If it's any help, he really digs the Cranberries...apparently someone told him The Goos sound like The Cranberries (which is news to me, but never mind) Since I don't know much about The Cranberries, um, could anyone recommend a Goo song with that in mind? I was thinking of maybe 'Slide'. Or 'Broadway'. But...I need to get this right...if I get it right we have a new convert and you all know how good it is when THAT happens So...suggestions would be appreciated

My first instinct is to say Name. And not because it is my absolute favorite song of all songs (and I don't mean just Goo songs). But because you get to hear the guitar work, John's voice and they rock out a little at the end.... ...BUT you could always win him over with the songs that first started winning over the masses: ~ We Are The Normal ~ Long Way Down ~ Name That is if he will buy into the idea that he has to hear two or three to get a better idea of how talented they are. How they have different sounds....all equally entertaining. Good luck with that. Let us know how it turns out. ~ Suz

I'm trying to persuade him to let me send him some files in an email, instead of downloading...he says he has a slow connection anyway so sending the files is better...quicker, I think...? You just have to open them, and that only takes a minute or so, doesn't it? Also, I think you can send up to about 4 or 5 songs in a Hotmail email attachment...so I would have a bit more room to manouvre with song selections. I'm wondering about including 'What a Scene' in the list...hmm, two people have suggested 'Long Way Down', must give that one some thought... I think I have to screw Robby over though, which I don't wanna do... but objectively, I think Rzeznik is more likely to sell him on the band. Robby is more of an aquired taste I guess...but I still feel bad about it... I'm a bad, bad, disloyal human being...

I would go with the radio version of Naked, that's what got me hooked on Goo many moons ago.

| Since I am familiar with the Cranberries, What A Scene is what I'd go with. I'd stay almost entirely away from DUTG. It's WAAAY too polished of a sound.

Hmm well that's really tough. If it really *has* to be one song then we'd probably suggest "Slide" which was the deciding factor for us getting hooked. Hope that helps a little bit, it's so hard to choose just one!! Good luck Lou & Nic
